Yu Yunique touted as world’s most affordable 4G enabled HD smartphone thoughtfully priced at Rs 4999 or 75$ by Yu televentures. The way the device is priced, one might say it is a cheap phone, but when looked closely at the features and performance it is offering. One gets to know that it really packs a solid punch to change the word cheap into a good looking, durable smartphone that is affordable. The specification and features of Yu Yunique that are required to play any sort of games are its 1GB ram, Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, quadcore 1.2GHz cortex A53 and Adreno 306 GPU almost in specification to Xiaomi Redmi 2 but lesser in price. Here we are going to let you go through the gaming review of Yunique and how we felt about YU Yunique’s gaming performance overall.
#Subway Surfers on YU YUNIQUE
Starting with one of the most well know games which even outshined angry birds, Subway surfers it is. Since the game doesn’t require some heavy graphics or hardware to run, gameplay was all smooth no lags or frame drops were noticeable given the case that the internal phone memory should not be filled up to its brim or you might see few lags and frame drops during the gameplay which might happen in most of the games.
#Asphalt 8: Airborne on YU YUNIQUE
Next in the queue is Asphalt 8. Pretty much everyone loves to play the adrenaline rushing car racing games. I feel that the users won’t be disappointed to play Asphalt 8 game on YU Yunique. We did see few frame drops, but lags were out of the sight when we were playing Asphalt 8 on low settings. On medium settings, some more frame drops were visible but again no lags. When played on high settings the frame drops and lags were clearly visible. Overall if users happen to play in low or medium settings the gameplay was smooth. The device did heat up but not as much to make you worry about your device.
#Leo’s Fortune on YU YUNIQUE
Playing Leo’s fortune. This game is rich in graphics. I did not notice any lags or frame drops while playing this. The gameplay was all smooth. The colour was coming out rich. The touch response was fast and good. It didn’t let me down. Even at very extreme and intensive situations where the GPU generally needs to pump out some heavy graphics, it managed to keep up with the needs. And for most part the device was cool enough and the game was totally enjoyable without any heating issues.
#Riptide Gp2 on YU YUNIQUE
Riptide Gp2 demanded a little graphics and CPU load because of which we witnessed some lags and frame drops. Wide angle viewing was distortion free no colour changes were visible while viewing from any angle. There was a mixed feeling while playing this game. Redmi 2 played riptide gp2 pretty well since it is also having similar specification, but then considering the price the device did pretty well. Overall the water splashes and the liquid spill effects on screen was pretty interesting to see, and even after some minor lags the game was totally playable. Although as mentioned it could have been better, we just hope YU can tweak/optimize the performance to cope up with the demands.
#Jetpack Joyride on YU YUNIQUE
Again Yunique did what it does best with lower end games. YU Yunique played it like a boss. No sign of lags and frame drop. Here we will discuss the speakers. The speaker wasn’t that loud but was loud enough to catch players attention. So you can’t really complain about the speakers on this little beast. We also happened to disclose a secret by which Yu manages to keep the device running on an average not so hot temperature even while playing hardcore games which we will discuss below.
#Dead Trigger 2 on Yu Yunique
Same as the above games. The temperature was okay. There were no heating issues even after playing it for like 1 to 2 hours continuously. No presence of frame drop, graphics was fine. Overall the gameplay was smooth and controls were acting fast to my fingers. Stick till the end we got some extra information for you.
#NOVA 3 on YU YUNIQUE
Nova 3 is a hardcore high-end graphics demanding first shooter game. Well playing this on yunique and seeing the results. We saw that the game lagged a lot and frame drops were frequent as if the device wasnt meant for such games. Anyways playing NOVA 3 game on this device wasn’t fun at all due to its constant laging. Redmi 2 does a better job when playing Nova 3 since it also comes with similar hardware specifications.
The secret to keep the temperature under check, which we found on YU Yunique was its screen brightness. Let us explain. When the user is on home screen and increases the brightness at its full potential on screen and decides to play a game. The brightness automatically turns down to a level where it is not too dark but visible under common circumstances. Visible enough to play any game. Talking to YU televentures about this, they revealed that this was done knowingly so as to keep the device temperature under control and to prevent major heating issues. And when you go back to the home screen from a game the brightness level automatically rises up. This feature is not changeable by the user and comes like a preinstalled setting.
Overall playing all high-end games and low-end games, we came to notice that the loading time was quite high when high-end games were played. Which happened to be opposite in case of low-end games like subway surfers. Lags and Frame drops were minimum in most of the games which is a good news. The viewing angle during the gameplay was nice too. The most astonishing part was the device did not have any heating issues with itself and managed to stay at an approximate temperature of 41-degree celsius. The device gives what you are paying for.
