So finally on 17th December 2015. YU Televenture’s much hyped YU Yutpoia was launched and unveiled in New Delhi, India. Dubbed as the “Most Powerful Smartphone on the Planet” also is the first of it’s kind smartphone from an Indian manufacturer.
With the YU Yutopia, it seems like YU has definitely learnt a lot from their past wins and failures and has managed to get most of the things done right. Now of course there are a lot of numbers are scales to be talked about, and it seems like a lot of people consider it ‘not’ to be the next revolutionary flagship. Due to the fact that Snapdragon 810 is not the lastest processor out there in the market, rather it’s an year old chipset which has been around for a while.
But gone are the days of sheer specifications and numbers. And now, it’s a lot more than that. As a brief notion, nowadays it comes down to the fact that how the hardware and software communicates with each other, and how it manages to make the process easier. So rather talking more about the hardware let’s talk about the performance. Although it excels in both.
So something that I really liked out of the bunch in the build quality. Not all the smartphones out there with this budget has a great build. Some of them really fail at managing a body that can even last 1 year. Especially considering any other Indian Manufacturers, the situation is much more worse. Not so with the YU’s Yutopia.
The YU Yutpoia is built like a tank. To the back, it’s all in all sheet of aluminium with very less space for the antenna bands, which puts the connectivity and radio features to question. I’m more than curious to know if it anyway affects the Wifi reception or 4G LTE connectivity speeds.
The YU Yutopia comes in a complete metal unibody design with a 5.2 inches of QuadHD OGS IPS display from Sharp that comes with a pixel density of 565ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 protection making it scratch proof.
Under the hood, the device is being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core processor, which apparently does have a bad name in the market for overheating. It is the same processor that we saw with the OnePlus Two, but that was rather an upgraded version i.e. Snapdragon 810 v2.1. It also comes with Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM bundled with, to handle all sorts of performance and graphical needs. Although this is not the best available hardware out there, it is definitely a lot comparable to flagships at a much more higher price segment than the YU Yutopia.
It also comes with a 21 mega pixel of rear camera w/OIS which is first of it’s kind. Because right now, no one out there is providing a camera with such resolution. But as being said, resolution is not all, and hence the glass and sensor also matters a lot. YU claims to use Sony’s ExmorRS IMX230 sensor which is supposed to work really well.
Although this is just my quick impressions on the YU Yutopia, there is a lot more to consider and talk about the YU’s Yutpoia. Do follow @TekhSquare for further updates on the same.
